ABUBAKAR TAFAWA BALEWA UNIVERSITY (ATBU) LECTURER ASSASSINATED
A 45yr old lecturer, Mallam Suleiman Abubakar, with the Abubaka Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), was last Thursday taken out by suspected hit-men in a gangster style assasination, in continuation of serial killings currently plaguing Bauchi State, the Pearl of Tourism.
While confirming the killing, Mohammed Barau, Bauchi State Police PRO, announced that investigations into the crime has commenced and promised that the culprit will be brought to book. He, however, added that nobody has yet been arrested or linked to the crime, as the “hit” was flawless leaving behind no trace, and the fact that the victim was an Examination officer makes the case more complicated. He promised that the State Police command will leave no stone unturned in solving the crime.
A neighbor of the assasinated lecturer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said late Malam Suleiman was killed while entering his house by unidentified gunmen who drove in an unregistered Honda car, at about 9pm. He said the assasins numbered around six and three of them came down and opened fire on the lecturer, who was in the company of his younger brother. After killing him, they fled in their Honda Accord before anybody could react or offer any help. The late lecturer’s younger brother was unharmed.
Late Malam Suleiman was later rushed to ATBU teaching hospital where he later died.”The Public Relations Department of ATBU through its Officer, Alhaji Zailani Bappah confirmed the story saying it was a rude shock to the University Community. According to him, the late lecturer was an easy going person who was not the too sociable type. Until his killing, last Thursday night, Suleiman Abubakar was the Examination officer of School of Management Technology at the ATBU.
