ENAHORO RECOVERS, LEAVES HOSPITAL
Twenty-Four days after he was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, frontline nationalist and elder statesman, Chief Anthony Enahoro has recovered and has been discharged.
Vanguard gathered that the leader of Pro-National Conference Organisation, PRONACO, was discharged last Friday.
Enahoro, 87, had fallen into coma late October and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit, ICU, of the hospital where he was revived and later moved to a private ward where he recuperated.
Asked about the elder statesman, Dr. Sam Nwanti, a presidential aspirant on the platform of Enahoro-led National Reformation Party, NRP, said weekend during a courtesy visit to Vanguard: “Pa Enahoro is okay. He is talking. Pa Enahoro was discharged yesterday (Friday) from the hospital.”
Nwanti, a native of Imo State, who just returned from the United States of America after 20 years, said he was in the race to rid the country of corruption, which he said accounted for 70 per cent of Nigeria’s socio-economic and political problems.
“Corruption has become so deep-seated in this country that it has stunted growth in all sectors which has been the primary reason behind the country’s difficulties in development,” he said.
Nwanti, who also unveiled plans to re-build the country with a proposal of $800 trillion, said the country would not have been in dire straits if past and current leaders had not looted the treasury.
“Oil rich Nigeria has been long hobbled by corrupt politicians, inadequate infrastructure and poor macro-economic management. The government has spent money without oversight or control. They have allowed corruption to hold and spiral out of control,” he said.
