FIRM OFFERS FREE HIV SCREENING

A foremost brewing company, Guinness Nigeria Plc, has offered free HIV/AIDS screening to members of its staff.
The firm’s Corporate Relations Director, Mr. Tony Okwoju, in a statement on Thursday said apart from marking this year’s World AIDS Day, it was part of the company’s commitment and policy to encourage a healthy lifestyle among its employees and Nigerians.
Okwoju said the theme of this year’s World AIDS Day, ‘Human Rights and Universal Access’ to HIV/AIDS treatment was appropriate as many people could not access HIV/AIDS test or treatment.
“As part of the effort to deepen HIV awareness, we have provided free HIV screening and counselling points for members of the public in Lagos, Benin and Aba. This effort ties perfectly well into the theme of this year’s celebration.
“We believe that this will make a real difference in stopping the spread of HIV and ending the prejudice against those living positively with the virus.”
