INEC extends voters registration by one week

The Independent National Electoral Commission has extended the on going registration by one week following the amendment of the Electoral Act 2010 by the National Assembly on Wednesday.

In a statement in Abuja Friday, the Secretary to the Commission, Alhaji Abdullahi Kaugama said the extension would take effect from tomorrow and terminate on Saturday, 5th February, 2011. He said the extension is to allow Nigerians who have not been able to register do so with the period of the extension.

The display of the preliminary list of voters would commence on the 12th of February and end on the 17th February, 2011.

He enjoined Nigerians who have not register to come out a do so.
