NIGERIA BATTLES GHANA FOR ALL AFRICA GAMES’ TICKET

Fixtures of the Maputo 2011 All Africa Games (AAG) have been released following the draw held on Monday in Cairo, Egypt. The qualifying series begins in January 2011 till July 2011 to determine the eight teams for both men and women’s competitions. The 10th AAG will be held from September, 3–18, 2011.

For the men’s, one team each will qualify from the seven zones to join host, Mozambique for the final tournament.
Nigeria and Ghana will renew their football rivalry, as both teams square up in search of the lone ticket for the football category of next year’s Games in Mozambique.

Nigeria, which has won the football tournament of the AAG once, has been paired in Zone III alongside Benin, Liberia and Ghana (which has never won the title) in the draw released by CAF.
Defending champion and four-time winner, Cameroon, will challenge Congo DR and Gabon for a ticket in Zone IV.

Zones
Zone I: Algeria, Libya.
Zone II: Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Mali and Senegal.
Zone III: Benin, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria.
Zone IV: Cameroon, Congo RD and Gabon.
Zone V: Eritrea, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Zone VI: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe
Zone VII: Madagascar, Seychelles
